SYLVIA GOTHIC
FONT DESIGN
Constructed in 1912, the Sylvia Hotel is a historic Vancouver landmark. Located in English Bay, the hotel is iconic for it’s logo and overgrown ivy which covers the building.
Inspired by the Hotel’s Gothic, stencil-like signage, specifically on the capital letter “H” and the capital letter “S.” Sylvia Gothic is a display font characterized by its sharp angles and nostalgic quality.
This font also includes a swashed version of its upper case characters inspired by the hotel’s iconic “S” logo, for optional use in drop caps or for adding a flourish element.
